the Story of a Quilt.

A long time ago and far far away ( 1997 across the Pacific Ocean).
The great summer visit to our extended families in the USA was recorded in signature blocks .

The memories included in blocks are stories in themselves.  The block is a traditional signature block construction called Tomahawk . I made the blocks of scraps of quilts and dressmaking  favorites from both my girls. The added signatures and stories from both my family and my husband's give me goose bumps. The potential was so great. There was so much happiness in the small fabric squares.

Like all fairy tales the main characters (the blocks) moved house 3 times while being auditioned for several quilts without the wow!.

Spring last year 2013 the perfect quilt called Silk Skirt by Lynn Alchin was magic.

Preperation, appliqué and .......

Spring 2014 a ta da moment

Hanging in the macadamia tree my finished quilt top blooming with love and comfort .
Now to complete the tradition of special memories recorded in quilts. I feel very connected to the history and traditions of quilting.

Sure hope you all celebrate your enjoyment in stitching, knitting and making memories.

Terry

Terry, it's beautiful!! Some quilts just take more time to stew, and the wait was worth it and surely just added memories along the way. Will you quilt it yourself? It looks lovely hanging in the Macedamia tree.

How lovely to have all those memories sewn up in such a beautiful quilt.

That turned out quite lovely! Some quilts take longer to create, but they can end up being favorites just from the time spent thinking about them.
